On this interactive episode of Grounded, we sit down with ODOE’s Director, Janine Benner, and walk through the Oregon Energy History Timeline section of the 2020 Biennial Energy Report.
Janine joined ODOE in February 2017 as our Assistant Director for Planning and Innovation, and was later confirmed as agency director in February 2018. As director, she provides leadership and policy direction to the department’s 75 employees and oversees an $56 million operating budget. Janine came to ODOE from the U.S. Department of Energy, where she served as Associate Assistant Secretary in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, the largest government funder of clean energy research and development. She grew up in Portland, Oregon, and has a degree in history from Princeton University. A history buff through and through, she helped develop the Oregon Energy History Timeline and brings the timeline to life in this episode!
