Grounded Podcast: Hanford’s Burping Tank

Our latest Grounded podcast continues the story of the Hanford Site — great timing considering the emergency at Hanford earlier this week.

If you haven’t already, please listen to our first Hanford episode, “The Atomic Man.”

Today’s episode once again features ODOE Assistant Director for Nuclear Safety Ken Niles. Ken picks up the Hanford story after the nuclear weapons production years and the somewhat-reluctant transition to cleanup.

From contaminated groundwater to “burping” radioactive waste tanks, the cleanup at Hanford is expected to last for decades.

Stay tuned to Grounded for bonus podcasts about Hanford, and a future episode about the progress we’ve made so far.
