Biennial Energy Report
Topic Collection

Every two years — since the first edition in 2018 — the Oregon Department of Energy publishes a Biennial Energy Report. The report features fundamental information and data about energy in Oregon, highlights of emerging energy resources, foundational “Energy 101s” on current topics and technologies, and select policy briefs that dive deeper into topics.

Each edition of the Biennial Energy Report builds upon the last, creating a collection of data, energy resource and technology reviews, 101s, and policy briefs that can serve as reference materials for interested Oregonians. View the collections below and click to read more on the topics!

Energy by the Numbers

This section focuses on the latest energy data, so the most recent report will have the most recent available data. Some charts also include data over time, and the different report years can also show how energy data has shifted since the first report in 2018.

Additional Chapters

In ODOE’s first Biennial Energy Report, we organized the topics by chapters rather than the sections we began using in 2020. These chapters touched on data, foundational 101 information, and policy details.

Energy 101s

This section builds the foundation of the energy story: how energy is produced, used, and transformed. These Energy 101s were developed for people new to energy or specific energy topics, along with those looking for a resource to help tell the story of how energy systems affect their work and interests.
