SALEM — The Home Energy Performance Score Stakeholder Panel will meet on Monday, May 11 in Portland. The public meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Portland State Office Building, 800 NE Oregon St.
The panel was created after recent Oregon Department of Energy rulemaking on home energy performance scores as directed by House Bill 2801, passed in 2013. Several participants in ODOE’s rulemaking effort expressed interest in working collaboratively toward greater market standardization. Ultimately, the panel will recommend to the department’s director which home energy performance score system(s) to approve for use in Oregon beyond 2015.
During the first six stakeholder meetings, participants worked on definitions, requirements and process to guide the review of applications submitted by organizations that seek approval. To date, the panel has: • Established a charter; • Developed a scoring system application; and • Defined assessor requirements, with assistance from the Construction Contractor’s Board.
At the May meeting, the panel will review the first system application, from the Residential Energy Services Network, a national nonprofit organization that establishes standards for rating and certifying energy efficiency in residential buildings.
