December 14, 2016 update: due to extreme weather conditions, the December 16 Energy Facility Siting Council meeting has been canceled. We will reschedule for a later date! EFSC schedule and announcements are posted on our website.  

SALEM — Current and future rulemaking will be the focus of discussion at the next Energy Facility Siting Council meeting on Friday, December 16 in Salem.

The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Oregon Department of Energy’s new office, 550 Capitol St. See below for information about public parking options.

The main items on the Council’s agenda include:

  • Sage Grouse Rulemaking: The Council will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. to receive comments on draft rules related to sage grouse conservation. After the close of the hearing, the Council will either adopt permanent rules or postpone its decision until a future meeting.
  • 2017 Rulemaking Schedule: The Council will consider staff’s recommended rulemaking prioritization list. Public comment will be taken.
  • Stateline Wind Project: The Council will receive an update on mitigation imposed in the Wildlife Monitoring and Mitigation Plan as a result of significant raptor impacts identified in a fatality monitoring study. Council will consider proposed amendments to the WMMP, including installation of new artificial nesting structures, on-going maintenance activities, and short-term and long-term monitoring activities.

Parking at the 550 Building: There are about 20 coin-metered parking spaces in the parking lot – enter on Marion St. or N. Capitol St. The Yellow Lot, located one block west, offers public parking for $6 a day (debit/credit). Limited street parking also available.
