On February 24, 2017, the Advisory Committee on Energy and Agriculture in the Umatilla Basin reached a significant milestone. After more than a year of meetings and hard work, committee members submitted a final report summarizing their efforts and recommended next steps to Governor Brown. The report presents the committee’s in-depth consideration of issues surrounding energy transmission development and agriculture in the Umatilla Basin. The report provides ideas and analysis that highlight the importance of thoughtfully-sited energy transmission corridors and working ag lands. A key next step involves a pilot project in Morrow County to use an open, public process to create a transmission corridor in the county.
