Gilliam County Court to Hold Two Town Halls Regarding Radioactive Materials at Arlington Landfill
The Gilliam County Court is hosting two Town Hall meetings on Wednesday, March 4 regarding the Oregon Department of Energy’s recent Notice of Violation to a landfill in Arlington regarding disposal of radioactive materials in violation of Oregon state law.
ODOE and Chemical Waste Management representatives will be on hand to provide an update and answer questions from the public.

We appreciate the Gilliam County Court holding these two town halls, and ODOE looks forward to participating.
As we mentioned in our news release on February 13, ODOE is requiring Chemical Waste Management to prepare a risk assessment to formally evaluate potential past, present, and future risk from the waste, and to develop a corrective action plan to outline the processes the company will put in place to prevent re-occurrence. This will also help determine the best and safest course of action for the waste that is already buried.
ODOE expects the company’s risk assessment and corrective action plan to be submitted to ODOE this spring, after which there will be an opportunity for the public to review and comment.
