Oregon Global Warming Commission to Meet Virtually on August 18

SALEM –The Oregon Global Warming Commission will meet Thursday, August 18, 2022. The public meeting will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. online.

At this meeting, the Commission will hear updates on:

  • The Roadmap to 2035 to help the State develop a long-range agenda for meeting Oregon’s emission reduction goals. The Roadmap briefing will include a presentation and discussion on modeled scenarios, financial metrics, and co-benefits.

  • The Natural and Working Lands Advisory Committee.

The agenda and information about how to listen in are available on the Commission’s website. Additional materials will be available prior to the meeting.

The Commission is seeking public comments on the Roadmap using the online portal according to the following schedule:

  • Comments on the Roadmap modeling framework and preliminary results presented at the Commission’s July 13 meeting: please submit comments by Tuesday, August 23 (due date extended)

  • Comments on scenarios, financial metrics, and co-benefits presented at the Commission’s August 18 meeting: please submit comments by Thursday, September 8

  • Comments on Final Report outline: TBD

General public comments may be submitted through the Commission's contact form online or by email. Comments related to the Roadmap may be submitted through the online portal.

Members of the public will also have an opportunity to sign up at the beginning of the meeting to make oral comments.

The Oregon Global Warming Commission is a 25-member advisory group created by the 2007 Legislature through House Bill 3543. Members are appointed and directed to develop long-term policy recommendations to prepare for, adapt to, and combat climate change.
