Energy Facility Siting Council to Meet February 19 in Salem

SALEM — A proposed wind farm in north central Oregon and a planned power plant near Coos Bay will be the focus of discussion at the next Energy Facility Siting Council meeting on February 19. The meeting is open to the public and begins at 9:15 a.m. at the Oregon Department of Energy, 625 Marion St. NE, in Salem. The main items on the Council’s agenda include:

• South Dunes Power Plant (Coos County): The Council will hear and consider appeals from four interested parties regarding petitions for party status in the contested case. The Oregon Coast Alliance has appealed the hearing officer’s denial of its request for party status. The Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition, Citizens Against LNG and Jody McCaffree, and Hair on Fire Oregon have each appealed the hearing officer’s rejection of one or more of the issues they sought to raise in the contested case.
• Saddle Butte Wind Park (Gilliam and Morrow counties): The Council will go into executive session with its legal counsel to discuss issues related to the project’s contested case hearing on exceptions and final order. The executive session is closed to the public. This is a continuation of a hearing that began on January 21; the Council plans to conclude the hearing at its next meeting on March 18.
