Energy Facility Siting Council to Meet May 25-26 in Salem

SALEM - The process used to amend a site certificate for larger energy facilities in Oregon will be under review at the next Energy Facility Siting Council meeting on May 25-26 in Salem. The meeting begins Thursday at 4 p.m. and reconvenes Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the Oregon Department of Energy, 550 Capitol St. NE.
The main items on the Council’s agenda include:
- Amendment Rulemaking: There will be a public hearing, with time each day to address the Council, for the Oregon Department of Energy’s efforts to update Oregon Administrative Rules related to amending a site certificate. After the hearing, the Council will deliberate on how it wishes to proceed with the proposed rules.
- Nuclear Safety Presentation: Ken Niles, ODOE’s Assistant Director for Nuclear Safety, will give the Council an overview of the various responsibilities of his division and its interconnection with the Council’s rules.

The next EFSC meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 22-23 in Salem.
