SALEM — Two wind farms that have been approved by Oregon’s Energy Facility Siting Council but have not been built will be the focus of discussion at the next EFSC meeting October 25-26 in Boardman.
The public meeting begins at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday and resumes Friday morning at Boardman City Hall, 200 City Center Circle.
The main items on the Council’s agenda include:
Golden Hills Wind Project (Sherman County): The Council will first consider requests for contested case on a proposed order on Request for Amendment 5. If the Council denies the contested case request(s), Council will proceed to review the proposed order and will either adopt, modify, or reject it. The amendment request mainly seeks to construct larger wind turbines than what is approved.
Wheatridge Wind Energy Facility (Morrow, Umatilla counties): At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oregon Department of Energy staff will provide an overview of this agenda item. The Council will then open a public hearing on the draft proposed order on Request for Amendment 2. The amendment requests to add two battery storage systems. On Friday, the Council will receive a presentation from ODOE staff and review the draft proposed order. No action will be taken.
The full meeting agenda and materials are available on ODOE’s website.
The next EFSC meeting is tentatively scheduled for November 15-16 at a location to be determined.
