Weigh In on Proposed Rules for New Energy Efficient Wildfire Rebuilding Incentive – Join Virtual Public Hearing January 5

Background:

Several communities across Oregon were devastated by the historic Labor Day 2020 wildfires. Oregon's Office of Emergency Management reported that the fires destroyed more than 5,000 structures and burned over one million acres.

In 2021, the Oregon Legislature created a new program at the Oregon Department of Energy, incentivizing energy efficient rebuilding of residential and commercial structures that were destroyed during the 2020 wildfires. ODOE has about $10.8 million for program administration and incentives available, and hopes to roll the program out in the spring.

Earlier this fall, ODOE held a series of virtual public meetings to discuss program development and seek feedback. We are now accepting comments on the proposed administrative rules for the new program, and we’ll hold a virtual public hearing to accept oral testimony on January 5, 2022.

How to comment:

ODOE will accept public comments through January 7, 2022, at 5 p.m. There are a few ways to weigh in:

Join us for a virtual public hearing and share your comments on January 5, 2022 from 4-5 p.m. – information on how to participate can be found on the program’s rulemaking page.
