The Oregon Department of Energy will host a hybrid in-person and virtual information session on January 31, 2025, to present modeling results of several possible scenarios for reaching Oregon’s energy objectives.

This info session is an opportunity for Oregonians to learn more about the Oregon Energy Strategy effort and view results of a pathways analysis that will provide the foundation for the next step of developing the strategy.

Date: Friday, January 31, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m.!
Location: Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) | 1945 SE Water Ave, Portland 97214

About the Oregon Energy Strategy

ODOE is developing the Oregon Energy Strategy, which will identify pathways to achieve the state’s energy objectives. The strategy will evaluate benefits and challenges of different pathways, present policy recommendations, and reflect input from Oregonians who informed the Strategy.

January 31 Modeling Presentation

The modeling that will be presented was conducted by a team of consultants, led by the Clean Energy Transition Institute and Evolved Energy Research. Jeremy Hargreaves, the principal modeler for the project, will present the model results. Additionally, ODOE has contracted with Kearns & West to provide facilitation services for the presentation.

In-person audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions following the presentation. All comments and questions are also welcome through ODOE’s online comment portal. The meeting will be recorded and posted to ODOE’s project webpage.

Additional Background

Developing the Oregon Energy Strategy will follow a process that combines data gathering, technical analysis, and policy discussions anchored in engagement with Oregonians with diverse backgrounds and perspectives from across the state. Following public comment on the draft report, the Oregon Energy Strategy will be presented to the Governor and Legislature by November 1, 2025.

The first step in the development of the Oregon Energy Strategy was to investigate different pathways. In June 2024, ODOE convened a series of meetings and working groups to inform that investigation, defining data, inputs, and scenarios into a model of Oregon’s energy system. Policy discussions will kick-off the second phase of this project, starting in February, and continue through June 2025.
