How do Columbia County residents heat their homes?

Did you know?

Columbia County is home to the Mist Underground Natural Gas Storage Facility, which is owned by NW Natural. It’s the only natural gas storage facility in the state, and has a permitted daily natural gas throughput of 635 million standard cubic feet of gas.

The county was also home to Oregon’s only nuclear power plant, the now-decommissioned Trojan Nuclear Power Plant. ODOE oversaw the safe decommissioning of the site, and continues to monitor it today. The site is closed, but houses spent fuel in 34 dry storage casks.
